The Books

In 2018, at the suggestion of my wife Carol, I began writing down my memories of meeting my mother's cousin Kathleen. The idea was to keep that memory alive for my grandchildren and beyond. As I wrote, the idea came to me that this might be a starting point for a novel. The first two chapters of May the Road Rise capture those memories. As Will leaves Kilkee at the end of the day, the story becomes fictional. 

The odd thing to me was that the story nearly wrote itself. I had no plan or outline, or plot idea. The story just developed naturally. Several of the characters are similar to people I have met during my life. Again, they seemed to fit the narrative that just opened itself to me. When I finished the first book, I realized that the story wasn't complete. Before I new it, I had May the Rain Fall written. I was completely invested in Will. Kerri, and the other characters.

Due to health reasons, I retired from Sacramento City College in December 2021. I had finished, but not yet published the first two books. I dove into May the Sun Shine and finally finished it in 2025. By that time, the first two books had been self-published through Amazon. In January 2026 I released the final book in the Will Nolan saga.
